SSH, X11 and remote administration tools for Windows.
workspace / windows
SSH and X11 in one Windows client
Open one Windows program instead of keeping three separate clients for remote work.
Network tools (SSH, X11, RDP, VNC, FTP, MOSH, Telnet, Rlogin) and Unix commands (bash, ls, cat, sed, grep, awk, rsync) ship in one portable exe. No extra runtime is required.
An SSH login opens a graphical SFTP browser. Remote X11 apps draw on the local desktop through the built-in X.org server. Home Edition is free on a personal PC. Company use needs Professional Edition.
Key features
-
Built-in X server
A native X11 environment that sits on the Windows desktop. -
DISPLAY on Windows
Send remote graphical applications to the local desktop. -
X11-Forwarding
Secure graphical forwarding through SSH. -
Tabbed SSH terminal
Keep several remote sessions in one tabbed workspace. -
Unix commands on Windows
Common Cygwin tools: bash, grep, awk, sed, rsync -
Plugins
Drop plugin files next to the exe to add more tools -
Versatile session manager
RDP, VNC, SSH, Mosh and X11 stay in one session manager. -
Portable and light application
A single executable. No admin rights. Start it from a USB stick. -
Professional application
Professional Edition is built for company security and stability
Network toolbox
SSH, Telnet, RSH, VNC, RDP, SFTP, XDMCP and Mosh stay in one application instead of a stack of clients.
X server
The embedded X server draws remote programs on the local Windows desktop.
Network security
Graphical sessions and file copies can ride SSH so the path stays encrypted.
Professional Edition
Professional removes the session cap, adds the Customizer, and licenses company use.
The embedded X server includes OpenGL, so remote applications can draw on the local Windows computer.
When the path must stay private, use the encrypted protocols already in MobaXterm: SSH and SFTP.
A Portable build is available. No administrator rights or extra libraries. Start it from a USB drive.
Who runs it daily
- Windows sysadmins who keep Linux, AIX or Solaris hosts in one session tree.
- Developers who SSH in, then edit remote files in MobaTextEditor instead of copying them down.
- People who need a remote Emacs, xclock or other X11 window on the Windows desktop without a second X server.
- Staff who carry a Portable edition on a USB key between approved machines.
- Operators who open RDP or VNC next to SSH instead of switching programs.
